About Us
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County is situated just south of Dublin, the Capital City of Ireland. The County offers an ideal balance between the vibrant capital and the unspoilt countryside. The motto 'From the Mountains to the Sea' / 'Ó Chuan go Sliabh' encompasses both the urban and rural environment and includes such areas as Blackrock, Dalkey, Sandyford, Dundrum, Stepaside and Glencullen. The coastline stretches from Booterstown near the city, through Dún Laoghaire and Dalkey to the magnificent vistas of Killiney Bay.
Within twenty minutes drive from Dublin you can be Hill-walking, Horse-riding, Golfing or enjoying a host of other activities, all set in spectacular countryside. The villages and towns offer a wide selection of shops, shopping malls, restaurants and pubs, and evening entertainment with music, theatre and cinemas.
The area also has a rich cultural heritage: The James Joyce Museum at the Sandycove Martello Tower, setting for the opening chapter of Ulysses, The Dalkey Castle and Heritage Centre, The Maritime Museum in Dún Laoghaire and the many archaeological sites spread throughout the County.
